The Story Behind ippon blade™

ippon blade™ was created by Ten Kodaira after more than a decade of exploring human movement through barefoot running, endurance challenges, and traditional Japanese movement culture.

Inspired by traditional Japanese single-tooth geta, he asked a simple question:

"What if a single point of contact could help people rediscover balance, posture, and natural movement?"

That question became the foundation of ippon blade™.

To transform this idea into reality, Ten partnered with Japanese craftsman Moku-en, whose expertise in traditional woodworking helped shape each detail of the design.

Together, they created a handcrafted movement tool that combines real-world experience, traditional craftsmanship, and modern understanding of human movement.

One milestone in this journey was Ten's completion of a 100 km ultramarathon wearing traditional single-tooth geta, demonstrating the practical potential of this approach under extreme conditions.

ippon blade™ is not designed to force a technique.

Its purpose is to help people reconnect with balance, awareness, and natural movement through direct experience.
